I'm looking to touch up the ceiling paint in a condo that I rent out, but I don't have any information on the paint used. While the ceiling is white, I know there are many shades of white, and I'm really hoping to get an exact match. Unfortunately, I can't cut out a piece of the ceiling to take to a store. What are my options to find out what color to use?

You can actually cut a small 2"x2" piece from an inconspicuous spot and take it to places like Home Depot or Lowe's for color matching. While it might take some patchwork, it should give you the perfect shade of white. Just remember to blend the new paint into the old—use a dry roller on the edges for a seamless look! That way, it won't have a harsh line.
Good news! Ceilings usually have a flat finish, making touch-ups relatively easy. You might be able to ask the building management for the paint color they used, but if it’s been repainted over the years, it might not help much. Still worth a shot!
Taking a chip to the store is a solid option, but keep in mind that sometimes touch-ups might still not match perfectly due to fading or wear. Just be prepared for that possibility!
