When Should I Expect My Echinacea and Perennials to Sprout?

I planted some echinacea and other perennials in late summer last year, and while they seemed to establish themselves well with flowers, they died back as expected. I'm starting to wonder if I'm being too impatient waiting for them to come back. Is it too early for them to show up, or should I be concerned?

Some perennials take a bit longer to sprout, especially if the winter has been cool. Echinaceas can be tricky because they don't like to be cold and wet at the same time. If they're struggling, make sure to mix some grit into the soil before planting more to help with drainage.

Don't lose hope just yet! This season has been quite unusual, and many people's plants are either slow to come up or thriving unexpectedly. Your echinacea might just be working on its timing!

It might help to know where you are located. In cooler regions, you might see your plants struggling to emerge compared to warmer areas. If you're in the southern UK, you should expect them sooner, but it's still a bit unpredictable this year!

I'm in Canterbury, the sunniest city in the UK, so hopefully that means my plants will show up soon!

Interestingly, my potted echinaceas have large leaves already, but the ones in the ground at my parents' place haven’t shown up yet. It just varies a lot!
