I'm a new gardener and I've started a variety of plants from seed, which is going pretty well! Right now, my cucumbers are in 4-inch nursery pots, and I'm trying to figure out the best way to move them to 5-gallon cloth pots. What's the minimum number of pot transitions I can do? Also, I'm curious about trellising. Should I just use a stake for support while they're still small? I'm a bit worried about the hassle of moving them around if they're climbing a trellis before they're in their final pots for the summer. Any advice would be appreciated!

I usually skip the transition to a bigger pot from the 4" ones and move them directly into the garden instead. It saves on repotting stress and is simpler for me. When I transplant, I stick my trellis posts in at the same time. They won’t need support right away, but it avoids disturbing the roots later on if you put it in now.
And is it fine not to have any climbing support for them while they’re still in those smaller pots?
