Best Ways to Remove Stains from Brick?

Asked By BrickBuster99 On

I recently received a violation notice from my HOA due to some unpleasant stains on my brick exterior. I've tried using a bleach-like stain and grime remover from Home Depot, but unfortunately, it didn't help at all. I'm looking for effective methods or products to get these marks off. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Using a pressure washer is often the most effective way to deal with those stains. Just be sure to look into how powerful it should be and what type of nozzle works best for brick. Don't want to accidentally cause more harm than good!

Exactly! You don’t want to use too strong of an acid, though, since it can damage the mortar between the bricks.

Isn’t it possible those bricks are meant to have that look? If it's a lime deposit, you can use acid to clean it, but do take care not to damage the mortar. Honestly, this seems a bit over the top—maybe consider having a mason come out to assess it. They could provide proof that the look is intentional, possibly saving you a lot of hassle with the HOA.
