Best Ways to Wire My 30 New 100W Solar Panels?

Asked By SunnySideUp42 On

I just picked up thirty 100-watt Grape Solar panels on the cheap, totaling around 3,000 watts. I'm looking for advice on the best way to wire them up – should I go for 24 volts? Would it be better to group them in sets of 10, or maybe two strings of 15? I'd love any resources you can point me to. So far, the panels I've tested have exceeded their specs. I haven't purchased batteries yet, but I do have an Eco Flow Delta 3600 all-in-one system.

It's really based on what your charge controller, inverter, and battery system can handle. I learned the hard way that you can’t just push more power than your equipment can handle. I have a 1kW system but can only use 300W because I didn’t do my research! Make sure to study your Eco Flow manual and get a solid MPPT charge controller.

For what it's worth, you might try a 2S2P configuration. Your solar panels can’t push more current than your system allows.

Definitely look into over-paneling too! You can exceed the 10A limit; your Bluetti will only pull what it can handle, but this way, you maximize your production time.

You might want to try wiring two strings of 15 panels, as long as you can keep each group facing the same direction without any shadows. Just make sure to check whether your gear can handle it since voltage requirements vary by location!

That’s good to remember! The unit can take up to 500V PV input, so keep your open circuit voltage below that by about 20%, especially considering the climate you’re in.

How you wire your panels really depends on the type of charge controller you’re planning to use. It’s super important to ensure that your setup is compatible with your equipment!
