I'm having a frustrating issue with my hot water heater. Sometimes it heats water quickly, other times it takes forever, and occasionally it doesn't heat at all. My landlord mentioned that the unit is only about 5 years old, so I'm wondering what could be causing this inconsistency. Any ideas?

It sounds like you might have a problem with the heating elements or the thermostat. Those can be pretty finicky and might need a replacement to get that hot water flowing consistently.
Have you checked if it's on a timer? Also, just so you know, since you mentioned it's a tank heater, it could be that the unit is simply reaching the end of its lifespan at around six years, which isn't uncommon. Just something to think about!

Thanks for the tip! I'll definitely look into that.
