So here's the situation: a few years ago, my girlfriend's friend moved out and left her plants in my sun room because she didn't have space for them. I agreed to take care of them, and over the years, I've really grown attached to them—they've even tripled in size! I did ask her once if I could take a cutting, but she said no. After a messy breakup with my girlfriend, I received a message from her friend saying she was leaving the plants with me. I figured that was the end of it. Now, three years later, she wants to come by this weekend to pick them up. I feel like I've put so much work into these plants, they really feel like mine now. How should I handle her request?

I’d politely remind her she chose to leave them with you and that you’ve grown attached. Maybe suggest you could give her a cutting for herself, but don’t feel pressured to give them all back!
Honestly, I'd just tell her they've all died. It's pretty crazy for her to expect you to just hand them over after three years. Just block her number and keep enjoying your plants.
At this point, they’re yours. You’ve cared for them for so long! You could even tell her that if she wants them back, she should pay for all the time, care, and the supplies you’ve used. But honestly, just keep them and enjoy!
