Charging 16.5V Batteries: Need Advice!

I recently scored a great deal on a set of batteries that charge at 16.5 volts, which is a bit unusual since I've mostly worked with 12V systems. I'm concerned about using an MPPT controller since I'm not sure if it supports that voltage. Can anyone provide guidance on how to approach this setup? Details: these are sealed lithium-ion batteries (BB-2590A/U) rated at about 250Wh each, and I got seven of them for $7 a piece. Any tips would really help!

First off, can you let us know what type of battery this is? Knowing the chemistry and model can really help narrow down compatibility. You might want to check out the manuals of the controllers you're considering; many of them allow you to set custom charge voltages. I found one manual that top bids at 15V, which might not work for your setup. So, it's crucial to verify before buying!

It sounds like you might have a 24V battery setup with two 4-cell modules. Charging at 16.5V definitely pegs it a bit high for a typical 12V battery. Your best bet might be to charge each section separately or use a converter to adapt to the specific voltage requirement. Just make sure your inverter can handle up to around 33V, just in case!
