I'm starting a project to string lights across my yard and most of my driveway. So far, I've run support wire and an outdoor extension cord from a car cover to a tree, and then to another tree. I've set up some temporary poles for the string lights, but they need to be replaced. The biggest question I have is about how to create a semi-permanent support system for the wire and cord between the trees. I'm considering using a 4x4 in a concrete block, but I'm worried it might not hold up well in the wind. I'd prefer to avoid sinking posts until I'm sure about this method, or else I might go for a more professional installation. You might want to check out some DIY videos on using poles you can cement into planters. They work great, as long as you aren’t dealing with hurricane winds. Super easy to set up and can look nice too!
For a more stable option, you could use some heavier outdoor posts. If you’re worried about wind, maybe add some cross-bracing with extra support. It really depends on your climate, but it's worth considering to avoid issues later on!
