Hey everyone! I've had a vegetable garden for about four years now, and I absolutely love it. Being in the garden, reading about gardening, and the fresh veggies bring me joy. However, this past season was rough with pests and diseases. My zucchini got destroyed by squash vine borers and powdery mildew, all my tomatoes fell to blight, and most of my bell peppers were lost to pepper maggot flies. I've also been dealing with an infestation of Asian jumping worms and a massive ant colony in my backyard. Thankfully, I still managed to harvest a decent amount of zucchinis and cherry tomatoes, but I'm worried about what this year will bring. Would it make sense to take a break and just plant flowers instead? Or do you have any tips for fighting off these pests and diseases? I'm open to suggestions!

For dealing with squash vine borers, it's super helpful to catch their eggs early. I check under my squash leaves every day and remove the eggs as soon as I see them. For aphids, I spray them with insecticidal soap right when they appear, and it usually works like a charm. We haven't tackled those Asian jumping worms, but I've heard good things about using beneficial bugs to keep them in check. I can totally relate to your love for gardening—don’t give up! Just tweak a few things, and you'll likely see better results this coming season.

For example, I’ve had success with copper sprays for blight and insecticidal soaps for pests. You might need to get creative with your options!
I’ve used copper spray too, and it helped. But I struggled with pepper maggot flies—still searching for a solid solution! Any tips would be awesome.
