Is Planting Bamboo in New England a Good Idea?

I'm wondering if bamboo is suitable for planting in New England. Would it survive the climate? I'm planning to plant a small amount and ensure it doesn't spread wildly. Any thoughts or suggestions would be really appreciated!

I understand wanting bamboo for art projects, but New England's climate might be too harsh for it. If it can be grown, it would likely be the running variety, which is known for its invasiveness. Maybe look into other native plants that could work instead? They could serve your purpose without the potential problems.

Make sure to check local regulations because many towns prohibit bamboo due to its invasive nature. If you're still keen on it, consider growing it in pots. That way, you can keep it contained indoors or outdoors without worrying about it spreading.

Honestly, I wouldn't recommend planting bamboo at all. It's pretty invasive and can take over your garden if you're not careful. You might want to think about native plants that can do the job without the hassle.
