I've just started gardening, and I've been wondering about what to do with the leftover seeds from my packets. They usually contain enough seeds for anywhere from 20 to 200 plants, but since I'm limited on space for starter pots and my garden isn't huge, I won't be using all of them. How do you all store your extra seeds so they stay viable for next year?

A lot of people get creative with their storage! Some use plastic binders or even 3D print containers for an organized approach, but honestly, I just toss them all into a ziplock bag along with their original paper sachets. It works for me!
You can just keep the seeds in their original containers but make sure to place them in a dark, dry spot until you're ready to use them. We've done this for years, and the seeds stay good for a long time!
I use a simple plastic box with a snap lid from the dollar store for my seeds. I write the purchase year on each packet, fold the tops over, and toss them in the box. My goal is to get some index cards to organize them better someday, but for now, it works just fine!
To keep your seeds good for next season, store them in a dry, cool place inside a waterproof container, away from pests. You could even plant some of your extra seeds in public areas, as a fun community gift, though just check if it's allowed first!
