Hi everyone! I'm new here and this is my first post, so I hope I'm doing this right. My wife and I are dealing with a very opinionated neighbor who has been rude about our front garden, even saying it looks terrible. She's quite religious, while my wife and I aren't at all, and she's taken particular offense to my wife's Hail Satan garden flags. In light of this, my wife has decided to embrace the situation and wants to create an all-gothic garden to really irritate the neighbor! I'm looking for suggestions on black flowers and plants that would thrive in our New Jersey garden. It's also my wife's first big gardening project, so easy-to-maintain options would be greatly appreciated!

I’d recommend checking out black flowering sedums and black grasses. They’re hardy and can thrive in New Jersey! You could also include Black Mondo Grass and maybe even some Othello Ligularia for a unique touch. And don’t forget to visit a local nursery—many have a great selection of dark-colored plants. Plus, if you add a stone circle to your garden, it will definitely raise some eyebrows—it’ll be a fabulous gothic centerpiece!
