Where Can I Find Vermiculite?

I'm on the hunt for vermiculite, but I'm striking out at local home improvement stores—they just don't have it in stock! Home Depot has it available for a whopping $50 for a 2 cu ft bag, which seems steep. I'm wondering if anyone knows where else I might check to find it without breaking the bank.

I found some at my local Ace Hardware the other day. They had the Hoffman brand—an 8qt bag for just $10.99. They did have larger bags too, but I only needed the small one. It’s strange, I couldn’t find it on their website, but it was definitely in-store!

That’s a great tip! I always forget about Ace, but they usually have some gems.

Interestingly, I found some in the pet supplies section at a store in France. It’s often used for terrariums! So, if you have a pet store nearby, it could be worth a look.

Make sure you check out local nurseries or gardening stores—they often have a better selection than the big chain stores. If you've already looked there, try some nearby farm supply stores as well!
