Hey everyone! I'm diving into woodworking and I'm in the market for a table saw. I've been looking at a new Skil table saw that costs 3500 SEK (about 360 USD) and a used DeWalt DW745 that's available locally for 2700 SEK (approximately 280 USD). Both saws seem quite similar, but the Skil has a bit more power and a larger capacity. Plus, it can handle a dado blade. I'm leaning towards the DeWalt because I think it might be a better quality tool, but overall, the Skil looks like a great option too. I could really use some advice on which one to go for! And just to clarify, a SawStop is definitely out of my budget.

Honestly, at that price point, the quality between the two is pretty similar. I'd say go for the newer Skil. You'll have the peace of mind knowing it hasn't been worn down by previous use, and you can always return it if it doesn’t work out. I've got the Skil myself and haven’t used the DeWalt, but I think it’s a solid choice!
This is a tough call, especially since we're not comparing the larger 10 inch DeWalt. Since the Skil has more power and can take a dado, I'd suggest you lean towards it. I own the 10 inch Dewalt job site saw and it's awesome for making fine cuts when set up right, but in your case, the Skil would probably serve you better for what you want to do!

I've actually been using a Skil and I’d pick it for sure. It's 10 inches, is new, and takes a dado stack, which is super handy! If the DeWalt was new and 10 inches, I might go for that, but keeping both tuned is crucial for performance. Also, invest in good blades—you'll be amazed at the difference it makes!
