Hey everyone! I'm in the process of designing a plane rack that will have some compartments underneath for storing other planes or tools. I'm specifically looking to find out the dimensions for a Record 405 or a Stanley equivalent combination plane so I can ensure the storage space is adequate. Any insights would be super helpful!

I can’t check my plane dimensions right now, but when building your rack, definitely make it large enough to keep the plane fully assembled, especially with those long rods. I've found that the original boxes it comes in often don't provide enough space, and it's a hassle to disassemble it every time you want to use it.
If you decide to build a storage box instead of just an open rack, I can share some details from my Sweetheart vintage 45. The exterior dimensions are 12 3/8 x 7 1/2 inches and it's about 3 3/4 inches deep. This setup helps in preventing rust and keeps everything secured. Let me know if you need more specifics!
I have my plane stored in its original box, and I find that it keeps everything organized and tidy. Whenever I need it, I just take it out, use it, and then put it back in the box on the shelf. It’s just easier that way.
