I'm considering putting solar panels on the floor of my balcony since I live in a townhome and the shared roof is currently off-limits due to some water issues. I have enough room for about 3 or 4 400w panels, and when not in use, I would just stand them against the wall. My main concern is whether an electrician could wire up an inverter to my main panel for this setup and if it would pass inspections. Also, would Southern California Edison (SCE) allow interconnecting this way? I have a ground-level patio where I could do something similar—would there be any difference in regulations for those two setups?

You won't pass inspections with panels that aren’t securely mounted. They usually require a fixed installation to ensure safety and compliance. Just propping them up won’t cut it!
