Hey everyone! I recently found out I'm responsible for maintaining the sidewalk outside my house. I got cited by the city because there's about a quarter-inch height difference between two sidewalk slabs. I'm considering renting a concrete sander to address this, but it seems like overkill for such a small issue. Is there a better way to handle this? Would an angle grinder with a masonry disc be a good alternative?

An angle grinder with a diamond cup is definitely the way to go! It's effective for small differences like yours. Just be cautious because it's surprising that homeowners have this responsibility. Make sure you wear dust protection, too!
I find it absurd that homeowners are responsible for such maintenance. In my area, the city routinely sends out crews to fix these types of issues. Maybe check if your city offers a repair service; mine charges about $50 for sidewalk fixes. It could save you some hassle!
Absolutely go for an angle grinder! I saw some decent deals for plug-in models at Harbor Freight, sometimes as low as $5. Even if it’s just for a single use, you can't beat that price. Just remember to wear proper safety gear and keep the area wet to control dust and cooling.

Yeah, definitely keep a constant stream of water going while you work to protect your lungs and manage the cement dust!
