Hey everyone! I'm working on a jewelry box and need some help with gluing velvet and felt to the wood. I've tried using Mod Podge and Fabric Fusion, but neither worked well—Mod Podge didn't stick and the Fabric Fusion bled through. I'm looking for advice on how to securely glue these fabrics without any mess. I've got six drawers in total, with one specifically for rings. You might want to try contact cement. It tends to hold better and minimizes bleeding through the fabric. You can do a light spray coat on the felt and a more generous coat on the wood to ensure a strong bond.
I second the recommendation for contact cement! It's great for fabric applications. Just make sure you're applying the right amounts to keep things neat. Also, if you're not set on using felt, consider flocking the interior instead, as it can provide a nice texture without the glue issues.
Have you tried using spray adhesive? It usually works well with fabrics. Most of the time, you spray both surfaces, but you could just spray one—maybe the wood. Let it tack for a bit and then apply the velvet. Alternatively, you could consider using some thin double-sided tape for a cleaner application!
