I picked up an old Record A151 spokeshave on eBay, but I'm facing an issue where the blade doesn't fit properly. I'm trying to figure out the distance between the adjustment studs on the models you guys have. This could help me sort out the problem. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!

I own a couple of Record spokeshaves, one with a flat face and another round, and I can say they use interchangeable blades with Stanley models. I had a hiccup with one since it had a Hock blade that didn't fit right because the center opening was too wide, making it hard to adjust the blade properly. I ended up making a new cap iron to fix the issue. If you'd like, I can measure the distance between those adjustment studs for you, but it’ll be later tonight. By the way, what's the exact issue you're having with your spokeshave?

The main issue is that the slots in the iron where the knobs fit are located at 1 5/16” center, while the knobs themselves are 1 1/2” center apart. This mismatch is causing the adjustment to work incorrectly and the blade ends up shifting too far to one side. I'm trying to figure this out without having to buy a new iron or modify the spokeshave so that it no longer fits the stock blades.
