I'm in a bit of a bind and could use some advice. About a year ago, we had a leak at the back of our house, which was fixed, and I haven't noticed any more issues since. However, I just found some damage, and I'm not sure how serious it is. The first two pictures show the area where the leak was, and the last two show the new damage I discovered. I suspect the previous owners just covered it up with some bondo or paint instead of properly fixing it. I know repairs can be made, but I'm trying to gauge how extensive the damage is. If I had to rate the situation from 'not bad' to 'really bad,' where do I stand?

It looks like there's some rot going on, which definitely isn't good. It's hard to tell without more details, but whatever the issue is, you'll need to remove the rotting parts and replace them. I'd suggest not putting it off, because the longer you wait, the worse it could get. By the way, does this look like a roof issue or a ceiling issue to you?
