I'm on the hunt for a router that offers precise depth adjustment and has a base plate that works with brass guide bushings. I currently own a Freud 3hp variable speed router, a Triton 3hp, and a 2hp model. I really like some features of the Triton, but the depth adjustment could be better; it feels inconsistent. The Freud is a pain to change bits on and has a safety issue where the switch can be easily bumped accidentally. My new router will primarily be used for tasks like dovetail joints and inlays, so I'm thinking a 2hp model would be ideal.

Are you looking for a fixed or plunge base? If you're mainly doing precision work, a plunge router could be a great option since you already have a large Triton set up under a table.
I switched to the Bosch router after my old Porter Cable, and I haven't looked back. It fits perfectly with the PC-based brass bushings and performs well in the 2hp range.
Have you considered the Festool 1400? It's highly regarded and if I needed a mid-sized router, it would be at the top of my list for sure!
It's definitely on my radar! Just trying to see if others think it's worth the higher price tag.
I think a plunge router would work best for me.
