I'm putting a decorative trim around my dining room, and it's about 11/16 inches thick. Since I only have a hammer and not a nail gun, I'm wondering what type of nails would be best to use for this project. I plan to use some liquid nails to help hold it in place too. Any suggestions?

Hey! If you can, I’d recommend looking into a brad nail gun for a cleaner finish. They’re not super expensive and will save you from damaging your trim with a hammer. But since you mentioned you're on a budget, using finishing nails might be your best bet if you're sticking with the hammer. Just go for a length that will hold it securely without splitting the wood.
If you have to use a hammer, finishing nails are the way to go! Just be careful when driving them in to avoid any dents. I totally get that money can be tight, but a brad nailer really does make the job easier and looks way better in the end.
