Hey everyone! I'm a new gardener working in zone 7b, and I've discovered some pesky aphids on my pea plants. It's really upsetting because I've been trying to keep everything organic. I've done my research on prevention, but it seems like nothing is working! Now that these little pests have invaded my garden, I'm looking for some effective methods to get rid of them. What has worked best for you? I initially panicked and started squishing them, but I really need a long-term solution. My marigolds didn't survive the heat, my rosemary isn't effective, and I can't seem to find lacewings anywhere. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Try a soapy water solution! Just mix some Safer soap or even a little dish soap in water and spray the plants down, especially from underneath the leaves. It can really help control the aphid population!
It's important to keep your plants happy to repel aphids. Check your soil, light, and moisture levels—unhappy plants attract these pests. I usually let nature do its thing, and their predators come around to clean up the mess in a week or two. Healthy ecosystems can make a big difference!
Pyrethrin can also work, just make sure you avoid using it when your plants are flowering. It’s pretty effective against aphids!
Another option is to spray them with a mix of water and soap. You might need to retreat in a week or two if they come back. Also, consider planting basil nearby; it's great at repelling some herbivores while attracting predators!
Ladybugs are awesome for this! They love munching on aphids, and if you buy them, they'll usually stick around for the season if the aphid problem is bad. I got some from eBay a few years ago, and they were super fresh. Just make sure to identify the different stages of ladybugs, as the nymphs look totally different from the adults! You got this! ?

That makes a lot of sense! My pea plants are in seed starting containers that are too small, plus they're getting too wet from all the rain, so I bet they're not thrilled!
