Hey everyone! I'm diving into a cool project where I want to create my own ultra-lightweight wired gaming mouse, aiming to keep it under 30 grams. The plan is to 3D print the outer shell, hand-wire the internals, and use top-notch components to achieve a quality build. I'm going for a vibe similar to the Finalmouse Starlight but with my own DIY twist.
Here are my main goals:
- Total weight under 30g
- Wired USB connection for no latency
- Include 2 side buttons
- A custom 3D-printed honeycomb shell that is both light and strong

If you're feeling a bit overwhelmed, it might be worth considering starting with an existing mouse that has good internals. For example, you could look at models like the OP1 or Viper V2 and design your custom shell around that. When I started, I used the PCB from an mm710 and crafted a shell just for it. It turned out really well!
