I came across some 6-packs of corn transplants at the nursery today, and it's got me wondering. I've always been told that corn should be planted directly in the ground. Last year, when I direct sowed, the harvest turned out fine, but the idea of starting corn indoors or getting a head start is really appealing. Has anyone here had success with corn transplants? I'd love to hear your experiences!

I’ve tried transplanting corn before, but honestly, it didn’t go great. The transplants didn’t perform as well as those I had sown directly. I ended up with only a couple of ears on the stunted plants compared to a lot more on the direct sown ones. Corn takes up so much space that it really didn’t make sense to have a weak yield from my transplants.
I always go for transplants, and they usually do just fine for me. I start about 12 seeds in a deep planter and transplant them once it’s warm enough outside. It seems to work pretty well for my setup!
This is my first time trying corn transplants. I’m really hoping they hold up and do well! Just keeping my fingers crossed!
