I'm trying to improve my son's closet which has some narrow compartments. I want to remove the vertical pieces (they're circled in red in the image) to create better storage for clothes. The screws appear to be a special type, so I'm looking for recommendations on what tool I should use to get them out efficiently. Those screws look like cam locks. If that's the case, you might need to take off the top and bottom parts first to avoid damaging the shelf. Just a bit more work, but it'll save you from wrecking anything!
Those look like Phillips head screws to me. You might want to try a #3 screwdriver if a #2 doesn't fit well. Be careful to apply the right pressure or you could strip them! Good luck with the project!
