I'm about to move into this apartment, and I noticed some logs being used as poles in the basement. There are also metal poles in place, and I'm wondering if these logs were just left over after the metal ones were added. The building dates back to 1900, which makes me a bit anxious about safety. Can someone help me figure out if this is something to worry about?

Looks like you have a central steel I-beam along with some lolly columns providing support. Since you're renting, it’s likely not a huge concern. Just keep an eye on things, but I wouldn't panic!
