I have a problem when using my string trimmer—grass and weed pieces get stuck to my sweatpants and cotton shirt, and they're impossible to shake off. I'm starting to think it has something to do with the materials. Is there a special fabric that grass clippings just slide off?

I’ve got the same issue! I’m planning to try out rain pants soon—I've heard they work pretty well for this.
Definitely check out those lightweight pants sold at outdoor stores like Cabela's or Bass Pro Shop. They repel water and, in my experience, nothing sticks to them when I'm mowing. Just be careful around fire or hot surfaces, though—I learned that the hard way!
You might want to consider some grass repellent spray. It could help keep those clippings from clinging to your clothes!
