I've been living in my new house for less than a year, and the steam from my wife's hot showers is causing the flat paint on the walls to peel off. We plan to replace the baseboards, add some decorative trim, and switch to gloss paint. I have leftover MDF baseboards from our renovation. Is it a good idea to use these in the bathroom, or should I choose wood or PVC instead?

PVC is a better choice for high moisture spots like bathrooms. It holds up well and won't swell like MDF. Just be aware that it can have a slightly industrial look, but you can definitely paint PVC to match your decor!
I really wouldn't recommend using MDF in a bathroom. It tends to absorb moisture and can swell up pretty badly. Stick to either wood or PVC in those damp areas—we want to avoid more peeling paint!

Also, consider upgrading your bathroom vent fan. A good vent can help reduce moisture and prevent paint from peeling. You might want to grab one that has more power if the current one isn't cutting it!
To be fair, no vent has won against my wife’s showers!
Okay so my concern is that it will look like a gym locker room. You’d paint the PVC with the same trim paint we’ve been using?
