I just got a Home Depot gift card, and I'm torn between getting the new hydronic impact or the XR hammer drill with three transmissions. I already own three drill/driver combo kits, but honestly, those drills look really tempting. Can anyone help convince me not to splurge on one of them?

Here’s my suggestion: Take some time at Home Depot and compare other things you could pick up with that gift card. Line those up next to the new Dewalt tools and figure out which option brings you the most value. If the Dewalt drill/impact combo stands out after some consideration, then why not treat yourself? You’ll feel like you made a smart choice rather than just going for flashy gear.
I’ve tried that method, and I always end up getting all the ‘other things’ as well as the drill, plus some extra batteries and bits!
That sounds great in theory, but honestly, all the tools are locked up in cages now. Employees won’t even let you walk around with them, which makes it harder to weigh your options. They just take everything straight to the register once you decide.
