What’s the Best Way to Create an Airtight Display Box for My Camera Lenses?

I'm looking for tips on building an airtight display cabinet for my camera lenses. I recently read that wood isn't naturally airtight, but I came across a suggestion to use epoxy resin to seal it. Is this a good method? I want to fill the cabinet with desiccant to prevent fungus growth on my lenses, which is a common problem, especially with older ones. Any advice on this would be appreciated!

Using epoxy can be tricky. While it might seal the wood, excessive drying could make it split. Just keep that in mind!

Thanks for the heads-up! I hadn't considered that could happen.

Why not just go with a Pelican case? They’re great for keeping your gear safe! You could then put that case inside a nice decorative box if you want to display it. That way, you get the best of both worlds without worrying about airtightness.

I get that! I have a few Pelican cases, but I was hoping to show off my lenses too. It’s great to have them protected, but sometimes you want to enjoy the view!

It’s tough to make a box that’s truly airtight while still being usable. A better option might be to get a dehumidifier designed for gun cabinets. It could save you a lot of hassle.
