I'm curious about what I should use to lubricate the bottom of my wooden plane. I figured oil might not be the best choice, so I'm wondering if wax is a better alternative or if there are other options?

From my experience, wooden planes slide more smoothly without needing much lubrication. Candle wax can work if you're using metal planes, but for wood, I find it not necessary since they glide well on their own. Just use it sparingly if you really want to.
I usually go for candle wax or sometimes use this rag with 3-in-1 oil. Works fine for me. Just make sure to check if the oil doesn't create any mess later on!
So the oil doesn't mess up the wood at all?
