Hey everyone! I'm in the middle of decorating my new place and going plant shopping with my boyfriend next weekend. He's not really into plants, but he mentioned this one specific plant he saw before and now he's asking me to find it. From what he told me, it has a big, thick root at the bottom and either one or just a few tiny leaves at the top. The leaves remind me of a Chinese money tree. I'm drawing a blank on what this plant could be. Has anyone heard of anything like this? I really appreciate your help!

I think it might be the Stephania Erecta. It has that swollen woody base called a caudex, and it grows long vines with round leaves, but keep in mind it loses its leaves during the dry season. It's a cool plant and not too hard to find!
It sounds like he might be referring to the Stephania Cepharantha! It's got that thick base you mentioned. Another possibility could be the Adenium obesum, also known as the desert rose. Both have unique shapes that fit your description.
