I just moved into a new home and I'm looking to add some window treatments, specifically those interior bracketed pull down shades. However, there's this trim in the way and I'm wondering if it's structural or if it's just your basic trim. Can I remove it?

You can remove the trim, but you really shouldn’t have to for installing blinds. It's just trim and not structural, so it won't harm anything if you do decide to take it out.
Sure, the trim can be taken off, but keep in mind that the wall will look a bit off afterwards since it covers the gap where the new window meets the old frame. So it’s an option but comes with cosmetic trade-offs.
