Best Ways to Clear Mixed Soil and Stones from My Garden Without a Lorry

I'm dealing with a bit of a disaster in my front garden! The previous owner left it as a mix of soil, stones, and weeds, plus it's on a slope. I want to level it out because it's actually about 2 inches higher than the path next to it, which means stuff is just spilling over onto the path. Here's the catch: my house is pretty far from the road, and the paths connecting them are narrow and have stairs. I can't get a skip because parking is completely full near my house, and I wouldn't want to risk it. I'm open to making multiple trips to the recycling center over a couple of weeks, but I'm stuck on how to transport all this dirt. Last time, we used strong rubble sacks for some other waste, but they burst under the weight. Would using flexi rubber tubs be a bad idea? I would consider hiring someone, but my budget is tight. Any advice would be super helpful since this is my first time taking care of a garden! Thanks a ton!

You might want to sieve out the gravel first! It can be used as mulch for new plants, plus it’ll lighten your load. Just fill some sacks with the gravel and separate the useful soil. Have you thought about listing the gravel for free on Facebook Marketplace? People often pick it up pretty quickly.

Lower the weight in your sacks and use a whole bunch of them! Honestly, it’s going to be a slog, but hey, you’ll get a workout. I did this whole process with a mix of gravel and soil, and trust me, your arms will be sore! Maybe invest in some big trugs to help. It's tough but totally doable!

Haha, I feel you on the workout! I had tons of shingle and chalk to move, and it really does keep you fit! Just make sure not to fill the sacks too much, or you'll struggle to lift them.
