I'm in the process of hiring an electrician and have reached out to several for quotes. One guy told me to email him the details so he could get back to me with a specific time and date to come out. Is this typical? I get that he might have been busy on a job, but it felt a bit dismissive to me that he didn't take a minute to talk. On the bright side, he did respond quickly with his email, but I'm still not sure if this is how things usually go.

I think it's actually more common now. Many electricians don't have the support of a receptionist to handle calls and schedules, so they have to manage it themselves. Emailing allows them to keep a clear record of what was discussed. Plus, they probably get tons of inquiries daily, so it's easier on everyone.
