I just had to vent a bit about something I noticed on eBay. I stumbled upon a listing for a Lie-Nielsen 10-1/4 plane priced at a staggering $900! I understand this tool is rare and high-quality, but seriously, is anyone really going to buy a hand plane for that much? Is this just ridiculous price gouging, or am I missing something here? I'm a huge fan of Lie-Nielsen like many others in the woodworking community, but this just feels excessive.

Honestly, people who actually use these tools probably won’t shell out that kind of cash. It seems more like collectors are driving these prices with their deep pockets, craving pristine, unused tools for their collections.
Must be the case! I've been waiting for a 10-1/4 myself, and when I got an alert earlier this year, I checked the next day but they were gone. Looks like collectors are way more desperate than I am, haha!
