I'm in a bit of a bind with my tiling project. I've got a 3/4 inch gap between the tub and tile at the back and right sides, while the left side looks fine. Yikes, that tiling job is a mess! Honestly, I think the only solid fix is to remove everything and start fresh, including the backer board. I wouldn't trust the waterproofing either since the tile work looks so bad. Better to do it right than to deal with more issues later!
To answer your side question, definitely *don't* use that shower! Given how sloppy the tiling looks, I wouldn't trust the installation at all. It's safest to avoid it until you can get it properly fixed.
Yeah, turns out it was a family member who did the work. Totally sucked being misled about their skills.
Sorry to break it to you, but everything likely needs to be torn out. The niche is a big red flag—if they messed that up, I bet the whole installation is sketchy. I'd suggest finding someone who knows what they're doing this time around!
What about the materials? I heard GoBoard is decent, but if the tile job is already so bad, who knows what else is wrong underneath!
