My watering technique evolved over time. I used to water from the top, letting the excess drip into pebble trays. I’d note how much water I used and then water again whenever the soil felt dry. Now, I wick water for all my plants, checking the reservoirs weekly. It’s working out great for everyone!
I usually don't have a strict schedule. Instead, I touch the leaves and if they feel wilty or thin, that’s my cue to water. For succulents, I look for wrinkles. I really try to wait until the plant indicates it needs water; it's more effective for me!
For my less frequent waterers like cacti and succulents, I mark their watering dates on a calendar. For the rest, I just check them casually. My ferns, though? They get some love every 2-4 days, depending on how they look!
I do a similar thing! My watering depends a lot on the types of plants and their location—some need more sun than others, so I adjust accordingly.

Totally get what you mean about feeling the leaves. I've also found that checking the pot's weight gives me a good clue too!
