I've got a nice table that was finished last year, and I want to keep it looking good since we use it outdoors. I'm planning to add another coat of the same polyurethane finish that was originally used, which is 'Varathane Polyurethane Oil-Based Clear Gloss'. If I buy the same product, can I just do a light sanding and clean the tabletop before applying the new layer, or do I need to sand it all the way down to the bare wood?

Yes, you can definitely go ahead without stripping it down to bare wood! Just make sure your sanding is uniform, and if there's any wax or oxidation, a quick wipe with mineral spirits or naptha can help your sandpaper last longer and give you a better sanding result.
You should be all set as long as you do uniform sanding. Just a tip: if they put any wax on the finish, that could gum up your sandpaper fast, so definitely clean the surface first!
Absolutely! A light scuff with some 320 or 400 grit sandpaper should do the trick. Just make sure it’s nice and even, and you'll be good to go with that new coat!
