What do you all think about this stone veneer job?

I recently had a contractor install this natural stone veneer, which is supposed to fit together like a puzzle. However, it feels pretty poorly done with noticeable gaps and pieces that just don't fit right. Am I overreacting, or is this actually a bad job?

To be honest, it looks like the contractor might not know how to install that stone properly. I can see some trowel marks that suggest they rushed it. Not a good sign!

Yeah, those marks really look like they just pressed it in without much care, kind of like they were handling play dough. Definitely not ideal!

This stone veneer looks like it was treated more like contact paper than actual stonework. There’s no structural support implied over the window, and pieces are floating over big gaps. They clearly didn’t even bother to cut and fit the stones together well. This whole job looks like a disaster both in function and looks!

It’s definitely too much grout in certain spots, which makes it look sloppy. A good installation should look neat and tight, not like it was just smeared on.

Honestly, this seems like landscaper-level quality. They should have laid everything out first, cutting the edges correctly instead of throwing it up there. It feels like they didn’t even do a quick YouTube search before starting!
