Hey everyone! I have central air and heating with a gas furnace. When I turn on my AC, it initially works great, blowing out cold air. However, after about 5 to 20 minutes, it stops pushing out air, even though the air is still cold. I'm not super knowledgeable about AC systems, but I know the blower works fine because the heat functions without issues. Any ideas on what could be causing this? I'd really appreciate any advice. It could also be that your AC condenser is freezing up. If the blower is still running but there's little air flow, you might be experiencing some blockages. This usually happens with poor airflow due to a dirty air filter or if you have high humidity mixed with a low temperature setting. Double-check your refrigerant levels too, as low refrigerant might cause this issue.
Have you checked if your thermostat is actually reaching the desired temperature? Sometimes it shuts off the blower if it thinks it’s already cool enough. You might also want to ensure the air filter is clean; a clogged filter can really mess with airflow.
I get that! Sometimes setting it too low in humid weather can also cause the system to malfunction. Keep an eye on that.
It sounds like your condensate drain line might be clogged. If that line fills up with water, it can trigger a sensor that stops the AC to prevent flooding. It's worth checking that out!
Definitely check that out; I had a similar issue and it turned out to be the drain line. The good news was that my sensor worked! No flooding in my home.

No, I had it set a few degrees cooler, but it still stopped after a while. The air feels cold at the vents but there's just minimal airflow. I’ll definitely check the filter again.
