Hey everyone! I'm a complete beginner and just got my first table saw. Up until now, I've been using a circular saw, track saw, and miter saw. I've been reading a lot about safety, and one tip that keeps popping up is to stand out of the way to avoid kickback. I practiced some cuts and it was pretty easy to stand to the left and guide the wood through. However, when I tried cutting some 22-inch plywood, it felt awkward standing to the left; I worried that the piece was too large to manage from that position. Plus, the 2-inch waste cutoffs seemed like they could fly off easily. I tried standing to the right instead, but that put me too far from the power switch. I'm curious—where do you all stand when doing larger rips?

For ripping larger pieces like 22-inch plywood, I'd recommend standing to the right, where you'll have better control of the larger piece. Keep your hands far from the blade so you have room to guide it safely. Just make sure you’re on the side of the material that’s between the fence and the blade. It's all about maximizing safety and control!
Yeah, I agree with standing to the right for big plywood. It gives you room to maneuver, especially with those hefty offcuts! Just be sure to keep your hands out of the danger zone and possibly use a push block to help guide it through safely.
