I'm trying to figure out the best way to mount a huge 100" TV in my basement, which has concrete block walls. I have the Mount-It "Beast" that can handle 450 lbs and a 110" TV, and I need to remount it since I've already used the original hardware. The wall has a layer of drywall and some pressboard trim, but I can remove a section where the mount will go. I'm thinking about using Cobra brand lag screw shields with 3" lag bolts, which can hold about 265 lbs forward and 326 lbs downward, but I wonder if I should go for something else or maybe build a whole self-standing frame with 2x4s instead. I've heard that mounting to wood is better for longevity, but I'm open to any advice. Also, I might need to use smaller lag screws since this size may not fit into the mount. I'd appreciate any thoughts!

For a setup like yours, considering the size and weight of the TV, I would suggest over-engineering it a bit! You could install 2x6s vertically from floor to ceiling and secure them to the ceiling's top plate. Then, add a 1x12 board horizontally to mount your TV on. This setup would support it well, allowing for the full 40" extension and providing extra safety.
When choosing hardware, it really depends on whether the concrete blocks are hollow or if they're filled with grout. If they're hollow, I'd suggest using larger toggle bolts that can support around 200 lbs each. If they're filled, then your lag shields should work perfectly fine! Make sure to check that before you decide on your mounting solution.

Thanks for the tip! I confirmed they're hollow. Do you have specific brands or types of toggle bolts you'd recommend?
