What Type of Door Should I Choose for a Towel Bar in My Bathroom?

I'm renovating my bathroom and planning to replace the interior door. There's only space for one towel bar on the door, which I'd like to mount at 18 inches because three of us will be sharing this bathroom. I already have a 24-inch towel bar on the wall next to the vanity for additional towel storage. What kind of door material would be best to securely mount the towel bar? Should I stick with solid wood, or are there other options?

Instead of a towel bar, think about using towel hooks that hang over the top of the door. They’re a no-damage option and super easy to remove if you want to change things around later!

If you're planning to hang a towel bar, go with a solid wood door. You don't necessarily need expensive hardwood; a veneer over a solid or engineered core will work and save you some cash. Also, try to match your new door with the others in your home for a cohesive look.

You can actually mount the towel bar on a hollow core door, just use toggle bolts for a secure fit! Plus, a solid door will do a better job at muffling sounds, like those accidental bathroom noises. Just remember to use a large enough door stopper to prevent any damage to your wall from the towel bar!
