How to Deal with a Mischievous Chipmunk Without Losing Your Mind?

I've been living in harmony with this chipmunk for years; he made his home in my front brick columns. However, he's recently decided he needs a new room under my expensive walkway, causing the pavers to collapse from his burrowing. I've tried everything—chili powder, gravel, even water—but nothing seems to work. Now I'm attempting to live trap him, though I'm struggling with some dark thoughts about the alternative. Does anyone have any effective suggestions to resolve this situation?

I've dealt with chipmunks too! In my case, I installed chicken wire at their access points and used expandable foam. It worked wonders and deterred them quickly. Don't forget to get smaller chicken wire; it really makes a difference!

Finally! A good, non-judgmental suggestion! Thank you.

Definitely, smaller wire is key for keeping them out!

Bury chicken fencing around the areas he likes to access. I faced a similar issue, and after blocking his favorite spots, he still found a way in. I surrounded my deck with chicken fencing covered with rocks, and it seems to have done the trick!

If you're aiming for a more permanent solution, consider trapping and relocating them. Just be cautious; some places have laws about transporting wildlife. But if you're set on trapping, a bit of bird seed can work well to lure them in!

I'm looking into live trapping right now with mixed results. Got any specific traps you recommend?

Just make sure you're aware of local laws before relocating them—it's illegal in some areas.
