I recently started painting some new pre-finished white trim in my home using Sherwin Williams' door and trim acrylic urethane enamel paint. I chose the white base color, but when I apply it, the paint appears almost clear. Am I right in thinking it might need to be tinted to show as white, or could there be something wrong with the paint?

Are you sure you actually got it in the color white? I’ve made the mistake of grabbing an enamel "paint" that was just a protective coating and ended up with something colorless. Double-check the label on the can to be sure it says white!
I've had a similar experience before with this paint. It usually comes in a white base, so it might just be a factory error. I recommend taking it back to the Sherwin Williams store with your paint stick, just to be safe!
Did you remember to mix it? Sometimes, even if they mix it at the store, the solvents can separate if it sits for too long. Try stirring the paint thoroughly before each use to get a consistent color.
Yeah, I shook the can and stirred it for a while. But it dries clear even on my stir stick!
