I'm nearing the finish line on a long and complicated basement renovation that has involved multiple contractors and even lawyers—it's been quite the ordeal! Now I'm at the stage where I need to install the range hood, but the installers didn't measure correctly, which has left me in a bit of a pickle. The rectangular opening on top of the hood is 4x20 inches, and while I've searched for adapters, I can't seem to find any that fit this size. I noticed Thermador has some 2x19 inch options, but those wouldn't work for me. I bought this Thermador 48-inch model off display, and I'm now hearing from the installers that the only way to make it fit is to create some kind of skirt, which would leave only about a 12-inch clearance from the stovetop to the bottom of the vent. This doesn't seem right to me! I would really appreciate any advice or insights on how to resolve this issue, as I'm eager to finally wrap this project up.

Do you have a picture of the top of the range hood or the model number? That might help in figuring out the right adapter or solution for you. If you can share that, it could make things clearer!

A reliable HVAC company should have a fabrication shop. They can assess your setup and create a custom solution that fits your vent perfectly. It’s worth giving them a call.
