Hey everyone! I recently went through an unexpected breakup, and it's been quite a shock for me. My ex and I lived together for a year in my condo, which I own. After just remodeling the kitchen with her input last month, the place now feels empty—only my bed and a few rugs left behind. I've been staying at my brother's because I feel anxious and overwhelmed just being in my own space, which I've worked hard for. I want to change things up while it's mostly empty and give my home a fresh feel, as it holds too many memories of happiness that suddenly ended. I painted it last year, but I'm thinking about replacing the flooring as well. What steps can I take to make my home a place of comfort again? Besides the flooring, I'm at a loss on how to adjust the vibe. Have any of you been in a similar situation? What changes did you make?

If you're open to it, I once smudged my place with sage after a breakup. It's about clearing negative energy. After that, I added new bedding and pillows. I also made a playlist of breakup songs and played it loud. It was therapeutic! Don’t rush into any major renovations until you feel settled.
Definitely! I think I’d like to incorporate a ritual too—might help me cope with all this change.
I’ve been in your shoes! New paint can make a massive difference, so I’d prioritize that. When I redid mine, it felt like I was in a whole different place. If you're also thinking about flooring, do it while the space is empty—that way you can avoid the hassle later on.
I’ve already painted my place white and it looked great! Just need a new shade to update it more. What color do you think would match my white cabinets and champagne backsplash?
You could go for a serene blue or a soft green. It’ll give your space a nice vibe, especially with all your white fixtures.
Changing up your lighting can really transform the feel of the space without breaking the bank. I love using lamps and diffused lighting to create a cozy atmosphere. It’s incredible what a difference it makes!
Totally agree! I also got new bedding to help freshen things up. It was tough moving back in at first, but small changes helped me adjust.
I swapped out my dining room light with a big wicker one and invested in some nice lamps. It really brightened the place up, especially in those darker corners.

That's interesting; I might try smudging. Rituals like that can help a lot. I heard about Palo Santo sticks for stress relief too.
